600 Bayview Drive is a LEED Gold and Energy Star certified residence in Strathmere New Jersey. The new single family residence is located bay front on the small barrier island. The site is the former location of the Bayview Motel, which the current owners had been using as a single family residence until superstorm Sandy forced them to rebuild.
The architectural design honors the vernacular of original jersey shore homes while carefully framing bay and ocean views from shared living spaces and bedrooms. The interior organization is based on multiple bedroom/bathroom “units” similar to the former motel with an open plan kitchen, living, dining. Interior design focused on materials and finishes that incorporated clean lines and classic patterns of whites and blues to give a light and airy feel and also let the spectacular bay and ocean views be the focal point. A natural light filled interior stairwell and shiplap clad elevator shaft are the main interior focal points which are visible from all entry points and common spaces.
